KAWS is an American contemporary artist and designer. His works, which often center around a small number of characters and motifs, seem to draw on a Pop Art-like aesthetic. After graduating from the School of Visual arts in New York and having worked in animation and graphic design, his career started off as a mixture of commercial and vandal – gaining notoriety as a New York City street artist. Now, working in both 2D and 3D, KAWS’ work can be found in many prestigious museum and gallery collections. KAWS continues to blur the line between the commercial and fine art, collaborating with brands such as Nike and Uniqlo alongside exhibitions.
