I have worked in the art business for over 20 years. Originally from the UK, I fell into the art business by accident, stepping in to help a friend – a major private dealer and collector, when his assistant fell ill. Although there were often Rothko, or Lichtenstein or Kahlo paintings on the wall, it was his photography collection that always drew my eye – Arbus, Stieglitz, Avedon and Atget to name a few. Keen to stay in the art world, I became an independent researcher, working on projects for the collector and his associates, which led to other research projects for major New York and Los Angeles art dealers. At the same time, I began to deal in books – another love of mine – selling fine art and antiquarian volumes, which I continue to do today.
