As part of the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time Initiative, The Bleicher/Golightly Gallery is pleased to present “All Systems Go” – A Solo Exhibition by Dave Quick. This exhibition features a compelling array of Quick’s multi-media artworks including his signature narrative tableau/assemblages and his quirky kinetic installations.

Multi-media artist Dave Quick is best known for being one of the pioneering kinetic sculptors in Southern California. Quick creates work that is fused with wit, intelligence, humor and satire, utilizing a robust and engaging palette of media including industrial materials;found objects;electricity;light;motion; sound and viewer participation.

Visually captivating and psychologically twisted, Quick creates intricately structured worlds within worlds, reflecting a symbolism that is both personal and universal. He invites us to take part, either as a passive viewer or literally, an active participant (offering buttons and cranks to manipulate at will). Playful, questioning and confrontational, Quick’s work attacks socio-political, historical and religious themes, while integrating vintage crankshafts and found objects into narrative assemblage that explore and merge childhood fantasy and adult reality, producing unique relics that are at once surreal, humorous and delightfully perverse.
