Ed Ruscha was born in Oklahoma and studied at Chouinard Art, now California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, California. Ruscha had a background in the commercial arts. Typography was the central theme of his work. The content of Ruscha’s work was influenced by the Hollywood film industry. It was the prosaic photographs of buildings in Los Angeles that popularized Ruscha’s work. He now resides in Culver City and his most prominent work was considered Pop Art.
