Gloria Stroock-Stern has been sculpting in private for over 30 years, though few have seen her work. Being in the limelight as an actress whose early career included Broadway and touring companies and then numerous television and film roles as well as local theater, Gloria’s life as a sculptor was something only friends and family had born witness to. Now, at 95 years young, Stroock Stern displays her clay and bronze figurative sculptures in a solo exhibition at the bG Gallery in Santa Monica.
A natural storyteller, Stroock-Stern has recently published her memoir, A Cast of Characters and will be telling stories about her life at a special reception at the bG gallery on Sunday, September 12th, the event will go from 12:00pm – 3:00pm, with storytelling beginning at 1:00pm
About Gloria Stroock-Stern:
A veteran of radio and T.V.’s Golden Age, made her Broadway debut with young Marlon Brando in Truckline Cafe. Highlights of a long career include playing Rose Kennedy in ABC’s Young Joe, the Forgotten Kennedy. She has performed in many plays at Theatre 40 in Beverly Hills, CA. Among her favorites are the title role in Driving Miss Daisy, again as Rose Kennedy in another playThe Color of Rose and the homeless woman in Eastern Standard. For ten seasons, she appeared in The Manor, at Greystone Mansion. She served for seven years on the artistic committee at Theatre 40 and currently serves on their Board of Directors. She has also done solo performances
Most recently, Stroock-Stern has been performing one woman shows – telling stories from her memoir “A Cast of Characters”.
