My pick of the week is a mixed media work of art by Nancy Larrew, titled, “Death by Chocolate.”

This piece is my favorite because I enjoy the symbolism behind the hand in the coffin. While the title states, “death by chocolate,” the hand creeps from beneath to show the viewer that something more sinister is happening. The coffin is painted red which complements the color of the grass and while these elements appeal to one’s sense of sight, Larrew adds to the experience by using actual chocolate. I found that the aroma made this piece more intriguing and interactive without getting too close!

“Death by Chocolate” is featured in the Food Show closing on Saturday, August 5th 2017!
