Jogen Chowdhury (b. 1939) is an influential Indian painter, whose work spans the past six decades. Art historian R. Siva Kumar describes Chowdhury as “the master of the unbroken line.” When speaking of his own work, Chowdhury states “My works have introverted quality with intense feelings. When I paint or draw, I also establish a relationship with my subjects. As a social being, it becomes natural. It serves multiple purposes.”
