Artist Q&A with Shana Nys Dambrot: November TBA

bG Gallery presents an expansive survey of work by ceramic artist Linda Smith.

Linda Smith has long explored themes of love, loss, and empowerment. From her early works exploring themes of domesticity through to her recent monumental sculptures filled with pattern and joy, this exhibition explores the different ways in which she has depicted these concepts over the last four decades.

Linda’s latest monumental totem sculptures towering over 7ft in the middle of the gallery will be interspersed with her historical paintings tied together with an exploration of feminine power that has always been present in her artistic practice through wild and freeing patterning in the paintings in her early work and energizing spaced patterning in her contemporary pieces.

Linda’s artistic practice spans over 30 years in painting, prints, ceramics, and mosaics. She has exhibited extensively throughout the west coast and is the recipient of numerous awards in craft arts. In 2006, Linda was the first artist (aside from Beatrice Wood) granted a solo exhibition at the Beatrice Wood Center for Art in Ojai, CA. Her work is part of the permanent collections in museums as well as receiving critical acclaim.
