Ghana:
Kwesi (Kwesi O. Kwarteng) is a Ghanian-born artist based in Newark who makes work using textiles and fabric. The main subject of his practice is intercultural dialogue and he is often inspired by his experience as an immigrant to the US from Ghana.
Some of the artists he’s watching now are Sam Gilliam, Ibrahim Mahama, and Serge Attukwei Clottey.
Other artists to watch: Otis Quaicoe (in residence with the Rubell collection in Miami.)
